JW Marriott Mauritius Resort is ideally located on the white sandy beach of Le Morne Peninsula with the dramatic Le Morne Brabant mountain as its backdrop. Le Morne Beach is protected by the coral reef creating a beautiful lagoon perfect for swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding. The hotel provides kayaks, paddle boards and a daily boat trip for snorkeling. A little further up the beach there is an area dedicated to motorized watersports and south of the hotel is the famous One Eye surf spot, perfect for kite surfing.

Previously under the St. Regis brand, the hotel boasts a range of colonial-inspired suites and junior suites housed in two-story pavilions with the upper rooms having balconies and the lower rooms having direct access to the beach or gardens. The main part of the hotel houses the Manor Spa Suite with a 35 square metre balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel also offers a number of private villas with pools and direct beach access.

The hotel will take you on a culinary journey in its five fine-dining restaurants. Beachside dining at The Boathouse Bar & Grill, French Mauritian dishes at Le Manoir, Japanese cuisine at Atsuko, Simply India whose name speaks for itself and finally, my favourite, the Asian-inspired Floating Market.

When it’s time to relax, you can send the kids off to the Kite Flyers Club, the TV & Games room, the library or the cinema and you can head to the luxurious Pure Spa to revitalize your mind, body and soul. Sign me up!

My most memorable moments (because there are definitely more than one):

  • Sipping a spritz with my feet in the sand whilst watching the sunset

  • Horseback riding along the beach

  • Snorkeling in the lagoon
